A straight-through 9-pin serial extension cable is required to connect the COM1 or COM2 port on the computer to the RS-232 serial port on the Access Point. After the cable is connected, use a terminal emulator, such as HyperTerminal, and set the session to:

 

9600 bits per second (bps)

8 data bits

No parity

1 stop bit

XON/XOFF flow control

 

1. While the terminal emulator is connected to the console at 9600 bps, 8-N-1, power up the Access Point. The following prompt appears:

 

Type <esc> within 5 seconds for menu.

 

2. To enter the menu, press the escape <esc> key. The following prompt appears.

 

Type '=' for main menu.

 

3. Type "=" to go to the main menu:

 

c -- Copy file

f -- File dir

l -- downLoad file into DRAM

u -- Upload file

p -- xfer Protocol

n -- coNsole

r -- Run

s -- System info.
